Cornerstone by Chef Tom Brown

Founded by chef tom brown, cornerstone is located in hackney wick and offers a seafood menu in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. There’s ample space for diners, and the vibe in the restaurant is cool, with black tabletops, retro wicker chairs and black walls (complete with requisite scribbles).

Tom Brown is an alumnus of Nathan Outlaw and it shows in his skilful cooking of fish and shellfish. His concise menu is dictated by both the seasons and the latest catch, and his assured, understated dishes are packed with bold, clearly defined flavours, as well as plenty of originality.Brown is a skillful cook. His light, produce-led style is clearly influenced by his time with Outlaw. His small plates menu includes pickled oyster, celery, horseradish, whole monkfish tail, roast chicken butter sauce for two or more to share and – most famously – a crumpet topped with potted shrimp and artful curls of kohlrabi.
